Megan and David Wedding

Posted in: Real Weddings

Living in Louisville, I’ve gotten used to the days leading up to a wedding day being filled with rain, and Megan and David’s wedding was no different. The forecast called for storms all week, including a 30% chance on the wedding day. No matter how the weather would show up on their day, I knew in my heart of hearts that it would be beautifully perfect.

Rain OR Shine.

And so it was.

Rain AND Shine.

Speaking of perfection, The Gramercy was the perfect setting for this sweet couple’s nuptials. The ceremony space was grand and beautifully decorated by Anne Holder with details and florals by Oberer’s Flowers. Anyone that knows Megan knows how detail-oriented she is. Her organizational skills are superb, and I envied her classroom back when she was a teacher. I never understood how a classroom could stay so neat and tidy (even at the end of a hectic school day). This being said, I expected nothing less than perfection on her wedding day. A grey and dusk wedding (don’t you dare call it lavender) fit for royals.

Megan and her dad, Ronnie were the sweetest pair during their first look. Dad was crying before it even began. Megan was absolutely gorgeous in her Stella York gown from Rebecca’s Wedding Boutique. Her hair and makeup were flawless (Angel and Brittany from Beach Beauty Salon), only made more beautiful by the smile that spread across her face when she saw her dad. Tears flowed and giggles ensued as the two fussed over each other. Ronnie even wore a special pair of shoes for his girl’s big day

(read to the end to see what kind).

Megan and David’s ceremony was beautiful, filled with traditions and mementos from their unique familial backgrounds. As Megan walked down the aisle arm in arm with her father, she held a beautiful bouquet. The stems of the florals were wrapped in lace cut from the dress in which her mother walked down the aisle to be married decades ago. Pinned to the lace of the bouquet, were a ring from Megan’s grandmother and a pin from David’s grandmother. In addition, the two braided the three strand cord, symbolizing the marriage’s reliance upon God as the third person within. Finally, the bride and groom participated in a Persian tradition in which the couple dips their pinky fingers into honey and then into each other’s mouths. This tradition is one that represents sweetness in the lives of the couple.

The cake and cupcakes by Shell’s Sweet Treats and cookies by Custom Cookie Art were as delectable as they were aesthetically pleasing, and the dinner from Kingsley Meats and Catering was delicious. And the reception…Oh yeah!

This reception was lit!

DJ Shaun Geiser kept the music pumping, and guests continued to hit the dance floor in a display of fun and fancy moves. Some would say the most entertaining moment of the night was when the UofL Cardinal Louie stopped by to party with Megan and David, die-hard UofL fans. I, on the other hand, think the most entertaining moment had to be when Megan’s all-time favorite song hit the air. Everyone knew when they heard the intro that this was her moment. The crowd circled around the dancing bride and watched the show. And a show it was. Megan was stompin’ in her “Air Force Ones,” singing along, and arms waving for the entire song!

Even as the photographer, I had A BLAST!

Megan and David, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your big day. You guys are a beautiful couple, and I have no doubt that you will have a life filled with love, fun travels, and blessings forever. I can see you all growing old, 50 years from now as Megan will still be stompin’ in her Air Force Ones (from way back in 2019).
