You’re standing atop the plateau of the iconic Table Mountain, overlooking Capetown, South Africa with your best friend, your lover, your boo. Hand in hand, you take it all in. The beauty. The wonder. The splendor. What an amazing feeling! THIS IS LIFE! Then, he does the unimaginable. Kneeling on a rock, he extends his hand toward you, holding a small black box. He looks up to you, smiling with a confident nervousness, and asks,
Sounds like a story from a fairy tale, right? Well, that’s how it all went down for my latest newlyweds, Kristen and Bryan. The two met through the popular social media app Instagram, so they are literally the hashtag #InstaLove. Speaking of the four letter word, love is a big theme in the lives of Kristen and Bryan. They love God, each other, family, and travel. They are a young and stylish pair, and their wedding showcased their class, style, and flair extremely well. Kristen was stunning in her Allure Bridal gown, and her hair and makeup complimented her natural beauty wonderfully.
Bryan looked equally stylish and dapper, wearing a navy tuxedo with black trim from The Black Tux. He and his groomsmen were too cool with their shades, and had to have a set of photos in those for me to submit to GQ Magazine LOL.
The neutral colors of the tablescapes and other decor at MAEC’s Picasso Room set a beautiful backdrop for a charming and meaningful ceremony, complete with sweet vows, written by the couple. Being a wedding photographer, there are few things that catch me off guard at weddings, but an element of Kristen and Bryan’s ceremony did. In a good way. The rings were passed to several key figures in their lives to pray over and bless before the ring exchange. What a unique way to involve loved ones that have had a significant impact on the lives of the bride and groom. They were able to bless rings that symbolize the love and commitment between Bryan and Kristen-rings that will adorn their hands forever. I was in awe at this display of love and honor, and will hopefully incorporate it in my wedding one day.
The wedding day went smoothly from beginning to end. Tiara Fowler of White Flower Weddings did an amazing job coordinating the event. She managed all of the vendors and was able to keep the timeline ahead of schedule. UNHEARD OF! I even had time to use the restroom, discuss some things with my amazing second shooters, Peggy and Dave, and change my shoes. THIS NEVER HAPPENS! In addition to the seamless flow of events, DJ Always Albert kept the music bumpin’ and guests hopping on the dance floor all night, after guests chowed down on goodies from Kingsley Meats and Catering.
And the cake-OMG! The semi-naked cake, with gold and floral accents from Sweet Stuff Bakery was beautiful and equally delicious!
Kristen and Bryan, thank you so much for blessing me with honor of photographing your wedding day. It was such a pleasure meeting you and getting to know and see you these last six months. Your day was wonderful, and your love shone throughout the day in various ways. Don’t forget, if you need a photographer for your next travel adventure…
