Michaela

Senior year is such a special time in the life of a teenager. It is a time filled with excitement, yet is also filled with uncertainty. It is a time to celebrate a new chapter of life, but a time to close the door on things of old. For most, 12th grade flies by like a flash of lightning. In the blink of an eye it seems, the culminating finale of secondary school is over. Done. Complete.  To commemorate this dash in time, seniors (sometimes at the urging of their sentimental and emotional parents) engage in many rites of passage, including buying class rings, attending proms, and modeling for a senior portrait session, which serves as a device to freeze time.

On a chilly fall evening in November, I had the pleasure of freezing time with Michaela, a distinguished, hard-working senior at Louisville Central High School. This scholar was excited for her fall photo session, as she loves the sweater and boot season. Although excited for the opportunity, Michaela was a little nervous, not really a fan of being in front of the camera. Once this beautiful and bubbly young lady warmed up though, she was full of giggles and posed perfectly.

And those curls were POPPIN’!

As for the future, Michaela has her plan all laid out. After high school graduation, she plans to attend college to study business administration. Once she has an undergraduate degree under her belt, Michaela plans to continue learning at a top culinary institute, where she will refine her developing culinary talent. I have seen some of her creations, and I know for a fact that this goal is one that will benefit many. I can see her in the future owning several 3 Michelin star restaurants and maybe even her own channel on The Food Network.

Michaela, thanks for allowing me to hang out with you and capture this special time in your life. You are a special young lady, and I know the future is all yours. Keep working hard and smiling, and all of your dreams will come to pass.
