If you’ve read my latest blog post, you know that I love to hear of people celebrating their birthdays in unique ways. Don’t get me wrong, birthday parties are great! I love good food, music, and socializing just as much as the next person. But there is just something about celebrating the gift of life in fresh and new ways that makes my heart jump. My new friend, Candace, decided that she wanted to celebrate her life by capturing beauty–not only her beauty, though. She wanted to capture the beauty of brown-ness in all of its glorious tones, shades, and sizes. Add to that the sisterhood that is friendship.
So, Candace gathered some of her closest friends, and this melanin magic session was born.
As you can imagine a group of seven women inside on a stormy evening, this session was one of the most fun that I’ve experienced. There were a couple of times that I had to literally stop clicking to laugh. Through their years of friendship, memories and inside jokes, this group was hilarious and made this session so much fun to shoot.
Thank you Candace for inviting me to be a part of your inner circle, even just for a couple of hours. You ladies are the best, and of course the melanin was
magical!
