Hashaka and Romandrae

Posted in: Real Weddings

“I knew you were something special the way you cared for Drae after his accident.”

This line, delivered by the best man during toasts, was probably the most emotional moment of the night. It brought back memories of the tender, loving care that Hashaka showed for her then boyfriend, Romandrae (AKA Drae), following a motorcycle accident. Even before they took their vows, she showed that she was committed to her man through sickness and health. But where did all of this begin?

Hashaka and Drae met on a dating app. He introduced himself and they chatted for awhile on the app, before exchanging numbers. When Hashaka began catching feels for this handsome fellow, she needed to make sure they were a good match, before letting her guard down. So, like many women, she decided to test him and his moral code. She called him on a Sunday morning. That doesn’t sound like a test to some people, but Hashaka, being a Christian wanted to be evenly yoked with anyone she dated to make sure the foundation for a good relationship was there.  As the phone rang, she told herself, “If he answers and is not going to church, it’s not going to work out.” Well, needless to say, he passed the test. He told her he would call her back because he was headed into church. After a year of long-distance dating, the two were engaged on a yacht cruise in Destin, Florida and were ready to marry.

The wedding day forecast was perfect. It was hot, but not that sweltering, heat that can haunt the month of July in The South. The humidity was relatively low, and there was no rain in sight. Vecoma at the Yellow River, outside of Atlanta, GA was the scenic backdrop for this sweet couple’s nuptuals. Lush greenery was abundant as were the butterflies that tickled the flower petals in the main gardens.  The centerpiece of the grounds was a lodge, beautifully decorated (by Batrina) with gold, burgundy, and blush accents and the ceremony equally gorgeous tucked between a forest of trees, with the flowing water babbling the background.

Hashaka, who has always been stylish and fashion forward, looked absolutely stunning in her sleek and modern (yet reminiscent of old Hollywood) fit and flare gown from Regiss Bridal. She topped off the look with a unique birdcage veil. Terae DeWitt had her locks laid and makeup by Keya DeLarge was flawless! Drae was dapper in his tuxedo from Savvi Formalwear with a dash of flavor in his shoe choice (black patent leather PRADA sneakers). Neither seemed nervous at all. They were just ready to complete the ceremony.  To become each other’s forever.

The ceremony was intimate, sweet, and emotional. Hashaka and her daughter both cried joyful tears and for a moment, mid ceremony, the sky opened up. Hashaka said this was her mother joyfully giving her blessing from the heavens above.

The rest of the night flowed with precision, thanks to Caitlin and the Vecoma staff, who orchestrated each and every detail of the reception, including the heartfelt toasts from the best man and maid of honor and cutting of the cake, created by The Village Corner German Restaurant and Bakery. DJ William kept the party going from beginning to end, playing hit after hit.

Hashaka and Romandrae, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your big day. Everything was perfect. You all are one of the sweetest couples I know, and I can tell you all love each other dearly. I look forward to watching you grow in love as a family for years to come.
